Today we make our way to the medieval market town of Alnwick, which still retains many of its cobbled streets, narrow alleys and fine stone buildings. We visit Alnwick Castle & Gardens, one of the finest medieval castles in England, which famously features as 'Hogwarts' in the Harry Potter films.B, D
We start the day at the stunning fishing village of Seahouses, where we have free time to explore the village, take a boat journey to the Farne Islands (additional charges apply) or grab fish and chips for lunch. We then move on to Bamburgh and its famous castle. Perched on the rocks at the edge of the sea, Bamburgh Castle boasts magnificent views across beaches and sand dunes. We explore the castle and learn about the area's history before enjoying some free time in Bamburgh itself.B, D
We take an early departure to travel to the beautiful border town of Berwick-upon-Tweed. Take a walk around the walls or visit one of the many attractions on offer. In the afternoon we cross the tidal causeway to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, home to Lindisfarne Castle (additional charges apply). We have time at leisure to explore the island. For the visit in October, we will visit Holy Island in the morning and Berwick-upon-Tweed in the afternoon, due to causeway safe crossing times. These times are subject to change.B, D
On our final day we take the short journey to the famous Beamish Living Museum, an open air museum set within 300 acres of beautiful County Durham countryside which tells the story of life in North East England during the 1820s, 1900s and 1940s. Experience town life as it would have been during these times and take unlimited free rides on the Beamish tram.B
